Camping

Top tips for a camping, glamping or campervan holiday.

Leave No Trace: Respect the environment and follow the "Leave No Trace" principles. Dispose of ALL waste properly, minimise any campfire impact, and be considerate of wildlife, other campers and local residents.

Route Planning: Plan your itinerary and highlight the must-see attractions along the way. Be flexible in case you stumble upon hidden gems or decide to linger a bit longer in a captivating location.... there are many that will eat up your time more than you may realise.

Supplies and Provisions: Stock up on essential supplies, including food, water, camping gear, and any specific equipment you might need for your chosen activities, such as hiking or fishing. Remember, as well as local supermarkets there are a great number of local stores and farm shops to support and you will find some incredible local produce.

Scenic Drives: There is no rush! Give yourself plenty of time to explore at your own pace. The roads around Inverness and Loch Ness offer some of the most breath taking drives in Scotland. From winding lochside routes to majestic mountain passes, Note that in the Summer months the roads get very busy and in the Winter, weather conditions can affect your travel.

Campsite Reservations: Plan your route and consider booking campsites in advance, especially during the Summer season. Inverness and Loch Ness has a fantastic range of campsites on offer with different facilities, wonderful locations and views.

Choose Your Comfort Level: Decide whether you're up for traditional camping experience with tents and sleeping bags or the more luxurious experience of glamping with comfortable beds and amenities. Both offer their own unique charm but unpleasant weather conditions can quickly turn that instagrammable moment into a soggy nightmare.

Pack Smart: Pack a range of clothing suitable for varying weather conditions. Four seasons in one day is not uncommon! Don't forget repellent for midges, suncream, protective clothing and a first-aid kit if you are planning on adventurous activities.
