Things to do The Highlanders’ Museum

The Highlanders’ Museum

The Highlanders’ Museum is home to the largest number of military artefacts outside Edinburgh.

The Highlanders’ Museum

The Museum is FREE ADMISSION and tells the story of the Highland Regiments from just after the Battle of Culloden up to the present day.

Based within Fort George which is still a working military barracks and currently home to 3 SCOTS, the museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts including 22 Victoria Crosses, 16 of which are currently on display. There are also two interactive Medal Finders and a Medal Carousel within the Museum, allowing visitors to discover the different medals awarded to members of the Regiments throughout the years.

In addition the Museum has an interactive shooting gallery where visitors can test their shooting accuracy and a well-stocked shop of Regimental commemorative gifts and Highland souvenirs.

A new addition to the Museums services is the provision of 'Highland Tours' , specialising in providing a high-quality day tour of the Highlands with a specialist tour guide who thrives on imparting their vast historical knowledge, infused with humorous anecdotes.
