Corrimony Chambered Cairn
Corrimony Chambered Cairn
An excavated passage grave of probable Bronze Age date, defined by a stone kerb and surrounded by a circle of 11 standing stones.
Corrimony Chambered Cairn
Corrimony Chambered Cairn is a ‘Clava type’ cairn in a remarkable state of preservation. It demonstrates the skill and planning of its builders: considerable resources went into the construction of its grave, and unlike at Clava, much of the passage’s roof survives.
The cairn is situated in a glen, with pleasant surroundings of birch wood and cultivated land. There may well have been a prehistoric settlement close by.
