The Clansman Centre

Entering through the doors of a 19th century schoolhouse, you will take a step into the 17th. Besides a quaint little shop specializing in Celtic and locally produced crafts and gifts we have recreated the interior of a Highland turf house, where an authentically dressed clansman brings the past back to life.

The Clansman Show must be booked in advance, however we also offer a 30 minute film screening of The Clansman, Portrait of a Highland Warrior which was filmed on the slopes of Ben Nevis, this can usually be screened at short notice.

The Clansman Show lasts for approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and will include a male and female member of the audience having the opportunity to be dressed in the traditional Feilidh Mhor and Arisaid (women’s plaid). Our presenter, usually dressed in the Feilidh Mhor, explains how families ate, lived and survived in the Highlands in days of old, he will take you through the clan system and local culture, demonstrates the Highland dress (all the mysteries of kilt, plaid and tartan) and teaches you the art of killing or maiming, using ancient weapons including the renowned Lochaber Axe and Claymore.

We have theatre style seating for a maximum of 50 spectators.

We welcome coach parties and can accommodate evening shows if booked in advance.
