Re-ballot 2019 Meetings
Thank you to everyone who came to see us at our June meetings and drop-in sessions, which were most useful in understanding more about what members wish VILN to do over the next five years.
If you didn’t get the chance to come along this time and share your feedback, concerns or ideas, there will be more meetings around the VILN area in September and October. These are the first three confirmed dates for open meetings –
Monday, 24th September 2018 – Drumnadrochit
Tuesday, 25th September 2018 – Inverness
Wednesday, 26th September 2018 – Beauly
All meetings will be from 12.30 – 14.30, venues to be confirmed. We are looking forward to seeing you then!

“The University of the Highlands and Islands is carrying out some industry research in relation to the hospitality sector, and we need your help! If you are an owner, manager or human resources representative in the hospitality sector, please spare a moment to provide us with your comments (or pass the survey on to a relevant colleague) so that we can better shape the future workforce.
We want to ensure that our hospitality-related curriculum is relevant to industry and the National Tourism Strategy for Scotland, whilst combatting the effects of Brexit, with students developing the skills and knowledge required by the wide range of employers in the sector. For this reason, we’d like to gather intelligence from those who really know the industry.
The university and its academic partner colleges cover a wide geographical spread, offering hospitality and professional cookery programmes in Perth, Argyll, Inverness, Moray, Thurso, Orkney and Fort William. We are asking organisations of all sizes from across the sector – from hotels and event venues to restaurants, cafes, caterers and golf clubs – to complete our short survey.
The results will be used to design our future hospitality provision, whilst addressing key issues faced by the industry in relation to recruitment, skills and qualifications. The survey should take no more than 5 minutes to complete. Thank you.”
The South Loch Ness Trail
Work on the new section of the South Loch Ness Trail is progressing well, although the very dry weather is making the path building more difficult – building materials are actually easier to work with in wetter conditions!
The new section of trail from Loch Tarff to Fort Augustus will be officially opened at the beginning of August.
Wow, the website has been busy again in June with 43,000 unique sessions! Unsurprisingly, one of the most popular blogs on the site last month was “How to avoid midges”, but there was also very strong interest in the South Loch Ness Trail, hiking and – thanks to our glorious warm weather – wild swimming.
We are – still! – needing your images!
It’s not too late to send in your high res images to be used on our new website! Images should be 1MB or more and please make sure they are either your own photos or that you have licence/permission to use them… Thank you!
Our 2018 See & Do Tear-off maps are ready to be collected from one of our key collection points all around the Inverness and Loch Ness area. Don’t run out over the summer season and pick up some pads now!
