This October, Loch Ness KnitFest 2017 returns to Inverness and Loch Ness and we are already getting a little bit excited! Knitters and hookers (that’s someone who likes to crochet in case you didn’t know!) from all over the world will be coming to the Highland Capital for all things woolly and crafty. So we’ve stitched together 5 things you can look forward to at this year’s KnitFest – apart from the amazing workshops, presentations and concert, of course!
1. Free demonstrations
The ladies from the Highland Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers will be back at KnitFest giving free demonstrations on all things yarn. Have a go at these ancient crafts yourself, the ladies will be happy to help – you may even discover a new hobby!
2. The Loch Ness Knit-cruise
One of the highlights of last year’s KnitFest was undoubtedly the Loch Ness Knit-cruise with Loch Ness by Jacobite in glorious sunshine. While we can’t guarantee the weather, we can guarantee you’ll be amazed by the beauty of Loch Ness and you will enjoy chatting to fellow knitters and presenters (or what we call having a knit and a natter) while working on your latest WIP…a wee nip of whisky may help with spotting the Loch’s most famous resident!
3. A new venue for Loch Ness KnitFest 2017
This year, Loch Ness KnitFest 2017 will be based at Inverness Ice Centre, which has been newly refurbished and will be transformed to accommodate this great event. The location couldn’t be better – it’s walking distance from Inverness city centre and many of Inverness’ attractions are close by. The Ness Islands, Botanic Gardens and Inverness Cathedral are just a few minutes’ walk away. Don’t miss this chance to explore more of this beautiful city!
4. Meeting like-minded crafters from all over the world
Last year knitters and crafters from over 20 different countries attended KnitFest, so this is a unique opportunity to chat and share tips with knitters from Scandinavia, the US and Canada and all over Europe….
5. Yarn, yarn and more yarn – need we say more?!?
This year, the Marketplace will be even bigger and better as the Inverness Ice Centre is transformed into a knitting hub packed with all your favourite wool, yarn, patterns, needles, books and more. Which means even more yarn to top up your stash!
So there you have it. Three days of knitting and crafting and 5 things to look forward to at Loch Ness KnitFest 2017.
