However, VisitInvernessLochNess is about much more than direct, ‘immediate’ benefits, it’s about building a more sustainable tourism destination, one that can compete on an equal footing with other similar sized destinations elsewhere in the UK and overseas. To achieve this we must as a destination invest in our product and ‘sell’ the destination to visitors and the conference market. This is the only way we will in the longer term attract more visitors to the area, who will stay longer and spend more. Visitors don’t come to a destination for its accommodation, they come for what the area has to offer! For these reasons in addition to direct business benefits, VisitInvernessLochNess is committed to:

  • Working collaboratively with partners such as VisitScotland and VisitBritain to maximise the marketing and promoting of the area to key national and international markets, particularly during the quieter shoulder and winter months
  • Working collaboratively with key partners such as Highland Council, HIE and VisitScotland to attract more conferences and business tourism to the area
  • Promoting and supporting existing and new sustainable events and festivals
  • Working with the public agencies to improve the tourism infrastructure in the area, specifically on projects such as improving accessibility to the shores of Loch Ness and completion of the South Loch Ness Trail thus linking up with the Great Glen Way and creating a 360 degree trail around Loch Ness
  • Providing opportunities for member businesses to improve and grow their business through initiatives such as World Host
  • Acting as a strong voice for the local industry on issues that directly affect all members
