North of Fort Augustus the trail follows the north west side of Loch Ness where you get many fabulous views across the loch, so do save some camera charge for this section of the walk! On the more challenging sections, experienced walkers may wish to tackle some of the Munros or Corbetts by taking a few minor diversions along the route.
The Great Glen Way can be walked in either direction, however, walking from Fort William to Inverness you have the prevailing wind and the sun behind you, plus you begin with the easier sections of the Way.
